This was a very interesting novel.It held my attention right through to the last chapter and the ending to that chapter was as quite surprising. It was really intriguing how Greenfield came to this country with virtually nothing and created his own dynasty. If it haven't been for the Gympie gold rush, it may never have happened. Through both World Wars and the depression, they seemed to have managed rather well. The management and experiences passed down through the five generations really had this family heading in the right direction although this could come to a halt in the last chapter.
